Graphite & Chalk On Toned Paper

This portrait is a good example of a particular kind of challenge we face as artists, it is simultaneously simple and incredibly complex. The model in this case, a former student of mine, has features that are very soft and she is under a studio light that is large and diffused. This means one thing for sure- SUPER SOFT EDGES!
